COPA’s People Academy

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), Chicago’s official civilian oversight agency for the Chicago Police Department (CPD), offers community focused learning opportunities throughout the year through its COPA People’s Academy.

This six-week civilian oversight training program offers a condensed version of COPA’s Training Academy and is open to both civilians and sworn members, as well as organizations nationwide interested in police accountability training, investigative and legal concepts, and the work of COPA’s Policy, Research, and Analyses Division (PRAD). Each session is led by COPA subject matter experts.

Session 5 of COPA People’s Academy will run from September 23, 2025, to October 28, 2025, on Tuesdays from 6:00–8:30 PM at Kennedy-King College in Chicago. This will be an in-person event only. Additional logistics will be announced before the start date.
